emailRajiv Memani is Chairman of the India region of EY (formerly known as Ernst & Young), a leading global professional services organization. He is also a member of EY’s Global Executive Board and Chairman of EY’s Global Emerging Markets Committee.

Rajiv joined EY in the mid-1980s and after working in Assurance and Tax, started the organization’s market-leading Corporate Finance Practice. In 2004, Rajiv was appointed CEO and Country Managing Partner of EY in India. Rajiv is active with many clients, principally with fast-growing Indian entrepreneurial organizations, private equity funds and global organizations establishing/expanding their presence in India.In his role as Chairman of EY’s Global Emerging Markets committee, Rajiv’s responsibilities include connecting emerging markets with developed markets as well as recommending investment plans for the emerging markets.

Rajiv is affiliated with a number of prominent business and industry associations. He is a member of the National Council of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), in addition to being the Chairman of its National Committee on Tax. He is also the past President of the India Chapter of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).

The government of India has appointed Rajiv to two high-powered committees:

  • Ministry of Finance Committee to simplify the provisions of the Income tax Act under the Chairmanship of Justice Easwar (Retd.) and,
  • Ministry of Railways Advisory Body to Modify system of accounting to ensure tracking of expenditure to desired outcomes

Sudhir KapadiaSudhir Kapadia

emailSudhir is Partner & National Tax Leader at EY in India. He joined EY in 2008 as Technology, Communications & Entertainment (TCE) Tax Leader and became Tax Markets Leader in 2009.

Sudhir has vast experience in advising large multinational companies in relation to their inbound investment strategies and domestic companies in relation to their outbound investment strategies, including tax efficient supply chain and transfer pricing. Sudhir is closely involved with Private Equity, Financial Services, Technology, Entertainment and Infrastructure sectors in advising them on tax and regulatory issues.

Hari has advised and assisted various multinational companies on resolution of import pricing at arms length on customs special valuation representations, export incentive programs, besides assisting in setting up of Export Oriented Units (EOU), Software Technology Parks (STP) and Special Economic Zones (SEZ). He also holds expertise in advising EPC companies for bid evaluation on contracts and highlighting the key impact from an indirect tax perspective. He has considerable experience in advising companies on cross-border transactions, transfer pricing planning, documentation & controversy management and assisting companies in international tax planning. He has advised leading Indian and multi-national companies in the information technology and manufacturing sector.

 

Rajen is a regular speaker at conferences and has contributed several articles on international taxation. His specialization includes, direct business tax issues and Double tax Avoidance Agreements between India and other countries, regulatory issues impacting investment in Indian real estate / infrastructure sector including exchange control regulations. Ganesh RajGanesh Raj

Satya PoddarSatya Poddar

emailPrior to joining EY in 1987, Satya was with the Tax Policy Branch in the Canadian Ministry of Finance, where, he played a lead role in the design of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and ongoing review and reform of the personal and corporate income tax system. He has undertaken major research projects for the European Commission on topics related to the application of VAT to financial services and to governments and public bodies.

 

Satya has served as a tax policy expert to the Harvard Institute for International Development, the International Monetary Fund, and the World Bank and has participated in their technical assistance programs in several countries, including Russia, China, and Gulf countries. He has been actively involved in policy discussions on reform of consumption taxes in India and has been advisor to the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy, the Central Ministry of Finance, and several State Governments.
